Decee Cornish Tours Coffeyville Week of Oct. 6th for CCC Humanities Series

Decee Cornish comes to Coffeyville the week of October 6th as part of the Coffeyville Community College Humanities Project.

For over 19 years, Cornish has told stories and entertained nationally.  Cornish served in the military for over a decade, traveled, and attended colleges and universities worldwide.  Cornish began to tell stories to disadvantaged and at-risk children while working for a non-profit youth facility.  In 2005, Cornish was recognized by the Presidential Commission on Arts and Humanities with the “Coming up Taller” award for his storytelling.  Cornish’s program will be “Storytelling in African-American Experience”.

Cornish's tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, Oct. 6th at Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 7th. Cornish will continue his tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday afternoon.  Wednesday, Oct 8th, he will entertain residents at Pickwick Place and Asbury Village followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday, Oct. 9th, and the Caney Nursing Center and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday, Oct. 10th.

The public is invited to the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday humanities performances at CCC.  The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre.  For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
