CCC Athletes and Teams Receive Recognition From NJCAA For Academic Performance

A total of 13 Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens were honored for their academic performance by the NJCAA for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Eight Ravens received the NJCAA's second highest academic honor, the Superior Academic Achievement Award. This award requires a student athlete to compile a grade point average between 3.8 and 3.99 over a two year period. Ravens receiving this honor were Grant Bachura (baseball), Marissa Coyne (women's soccer), Kendra Crewse (women's track and cross country), Shauna Griffin (women's soccer), Elisa Marques (volleyball), Tyler Moore (baseball), Jacob Spring (baseball) and Laura Whiteley (softball).

Five Ravens received the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award for compiling a grade point average between 3.6 and 3.8. Athletes receiving this distinction were Tyler Buss (baseball), Sergio Franco (men's soccer), Ben Grant (men's track and cross country), Trae Smith (baseball) and Jordan Trimble (volleyball).

Several CCC athletic teams were also honored by the NJCAA as an All-Academic Team. Teams receiving this award had to compile a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or above during the 2013-2014 academic year.

CCC teams achieving this award level were: baseball (3.42 gpa), women's basketball (3.09 gpa), women's golf (3.50 gpa), softball (3.24 gpa), volleyball (3.46 gpa), women's cross country (3.12 gpa), men's cross country (3.24 gpa), women's indoor track (3.15 gpa), men's indoor track (3.01 gpa), women's outdoor track (3.11 gpa) and men's soccer (3.02 gpa).
