CCC invites public to Feb. 18 luncheon honoring 1962 men's basketball championship team

Fifty years ago, the Coffeyville Community College men’s basketball team made history. The team, coached by the legendary Jack Hartman, won the NJCAA National Championship and finished with a perfect 32-0 mark. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this championship season, CCC will be honoring the 1962 team with a luncheon on Feb. 18.

The luncheon will begin at 12 noon and will be held in the CCC Student Union. This will be a unique opportunity for the 1962 team to renew old friendships, relive the championship days and make new memories. It is also a wonderful opportunity for Red Raven fans to meet this prestigious team.

The cost of the luncheon is $15 for a single, or $25 for a couple. Reservations are requested by Feb. 10. To reserve seats at the luncheon, please call Cheryl Burk at (620) 252-7299.

Later in the evening, the Ravens will be hosting Johnson County with the women’s game starting at 5 p.m. and the men’s game following at 7 p.m. The 1962 team will be introduced to the crowd at halftime during the men’s game.
