Coffeyville defeats Hutch a second time to stave off elimination in Super Regional Tournament

Blake Holovach pitched three scoreless innings to get the win in Coffeyville's 10-8 victory over Hutchinson.
Coffeyville scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally past the Hutchinson Blue Dragons 10-8 in an Super Regional elimination game on Sunday evening. It was the second win for Coffeyville over Hutchinson in the tournament. The win advanced Coffeyville to the Super Regional championship against Seward County.
Hutchinson scored five runs in the top of the second to take a 6-1 lead over Coffeyville. The Ravens scored two runs in the bottom of the second to chip away at the lead. The Blue Dragons added a run in the fifth on Grant Dunnegan’s homer to extend the lead to 7-3. Coffeyville added two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Terrell Brown drove in Kegan Knight with a double and Drew Burks followed with a single to score Brown, reducing the Blue Dragons’ lead to 7-5.
Tanner Vinson homered for Hutchinson to lead off the top of the sixth, giving the Blue Dragons an 8-5 lead.
Coffeyville got the run back in the bottom half of the sixth on Conar’s Kreis sacrifice fly to deep center, scoring Sebastian Stargell all the way from second.
Down 8-6 going into the seventh, Blake Holovach entered the game for Coffeyville and he would hold Hutchinson scoreless for the next three innings, giving Coffeyville a chance for a comeback. A comeback would be in the cards.
Coffeyville would get within one, 8-7, on John Branum’s single to score Burks in the bottom of the seventh.
Coffeyville would then take the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Chris Bervert singled to start the inning and had only advanced to second with two outs, but the flood gates were about to open. Brown singled to center to score Bervert with the tying run. Brown then stole second and scored when Burks reached on a fielding error by the Blue Dragons’ pitcher Andrew Urban, giving Coffeyville a 9-8 lead. Coffeyville added an insurance run when Branum followed with a double to drive in Burks.
Holovach finished up with a scoreless ninth to record the win.
