John Martin hired as baseball coach

Coffeyville Community College has hired John Martin as Head Baseball Coach. Martin replaces Andy Morgan who has accepted a position with Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
John spent the past three seasons as the Emporia State University Hornets pitching coach. A catcher, John played three years as a member of the Hornets squad and was the 2006 Roger Newell Award Winner. He played his freshman season at Hutchinson Community College.
John coached the Liberal Beejays to the 2010 National Baseball Congress World Series.
Following his senior season, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 24th round of the draft. He spent time with both the Gulf Coast Dodgers and the Ogden Raptors where he hit .256 with 29 RBI and an on-base percentage of .343. In 2008 he played with the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League where he hit .257 with three home runs and 30 RBI.
