Raven Golfers Fourth at Jayhawk Tourney in Salina

2011-2012 Men's Golf Team

The Coffeyville Community College men's golf team placed fourth at the fifth Jayhawk Conference tournament played at the Salina (Kan.) Country Club. After the Salina area was raked by tornadoes on Saturday, the golfers got to enjoy a near perfect afternoon on the links Monday.

Hutchinson won the tournament with Dodge City and Johnson County finishing second and third respectively. Following Coffeyville's fourth place finish were Garden City, Kansas City, Independence, Allen County, Barton County and Colby.

"The kids held it together the second round," said CCC Head Golf Coach Bill Williamson.  "We have been struggling in the second round lately, so it was good to see them perform well."

Gable LaForge was the top finisher for the Ravens, placing in a tie for 13th overall. LaForge shot rounds ot 80 and 76 to card a 36-hole total of 156. Teammate Ryan Scott was two strokes behind with rounds of 82 and 76 for a 158 total. Scott tied for 18th place individually. Brandon Winfrey finished just outside the top 20, tying for 21st place with  rounds of 79 and 82 for a total of 161.
