Ravens Get Split With Dodge City With Walk-off in Second Game

Coffeyville's Kayla Manzanares slides across home with the running run in the bottom of the seventh inning of the Ravens' 7-6 win over Dodge City in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Conquistadors.
The Coffeyville Red Ravens split a doubleheader with the Dodge City Conquistadors on Saturday at Byers Field in Coffeyville. Dodge City won the first game 10-1, but the Ravens rebounded for a 7-6 win in game two.
In game two, the Ravens took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Kayla Manzanares' single that scored Rashley Rankin.
Dodge City scored twice in the top of the third, but the Conquistators lead was short-lived. Rankin led off the bottom of the third with a single. Shiann Wickham followed with a single that advanced Rankin to third. Wickham then stole second to put runners on second and third for the Ravens. Kourtney Herrera drove in the tying run with a ground out to the shortstop. TWo batters later, Halie Liggett stroked a two-out single that brought home Wickham and giving the Ravens the lead at 3-2.
Dodge City tied the contest at 3-3 with a run in the top of the fourth. Coffeyville was quick to anwser though. In the bottom half of the inning, Mykah Meador led off with a double. Meador would eventually score to give the Ravens a 4-3 advantage.
Coffeyville would extend the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth. The rally started with two outs and the bases empty when Leeza Enfield singled. Enfield then scored when Rankin followed with a triple. Rankin went 3-for-4 with two singles and a triple in the second game.
Rankin then scored on Wickham's single that made it 6-3 Coffeyville.
Dodge City wouldn't go away, though, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to knot the score at 6-6.
Coffeyville would rally in the bottom of the seventh. Manzanares and Liggett hit back-to-back singles to start off the inning. Tara Malaske followed with a single. Manzanares would get in a run down between third and home and Liggett would draw a throw trying to catch her off second base. On the throw, Manzanares sprinted for home and beat the return home to plate and giving the Ravens a 7-6 win.
ShyAnne Wells went the distance in game to earn the win. Wells allowed six earned runs on four walks and nine hits.
The Ravens finished the weekend with a 14-14 record in the region standings. The Ravens are currently ninth in the region and need to move up one more spot to host a first round region playoff series the weekend of April 26.
The Ravens have two more region games to make a final home playoff games push. On Tuesday, the Ravens will host Highland, the #12 ranked team in the latest NJCAA poll. The Scotties are second in the region standings with a 24-4 mark.
The games on Tuesday will be played at Byers Field in Coffeyville. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
