The Coffeyville Community College men's soccer team signed a trio of players from Independence High School to letters of intent during a signing ceremony held on the CCC campus on Monday. Signing with the Red Ravens were Cole Keller, Levi Sprague and Jace McCabe. All three players earned numerous awards on the soccer pitch during their high school careers.

McCabe was named first team All-SEK both his junior and senior years at IHS. McCabe was also named to the All-Region team the past two seasons, and he was also named first team All-State his senior season and All-State honorable mention his junior year. A midfielder, McCabe scored 15 goals and was credited with six assists in 16 regular season games.

Last season, the Bulldogs under head coach Matt Ysusi finished 12-4 during the regular season including a perfect 8-0 mark in SEK League play. The Bulldogs won their region match-up over Ottawa before dropping a triple overtime thriller to Baldwin in the state quarterfinals.

Sprague, a striker, scored ten goals and had an assist during regular season play last year. Sprague was selected first team All-SEK and was named to the All-Region team his senior season. Keller, a sweeper, was also named first team All-SEK his senior season, and he was a second team All-SEK selection his junior season. Keller was also named All-Region and an All-State honorable mention his senior season.

All three players will have a good chance to make the Red Ravens roster next season according to CCC Head Soccer Coach Courey Feerer. The Ravens are coming off their best season in school history. The Ravens were Jayhawk Conference co-champions last year and completed the 2011 season with a 15-2-2 record. The Ravens were defeated by Cloud County in the Region VI championship game. Cloud County went on to win the NJCAA national championship last year.

The Ravens will begin the 2012 season on Aug. 30 when they will host NEO A & M at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Coffeyville.
