Spaight named 1st Team NJCAA All-American, Beard HM selection

Martrell Spaight, #27, tackles Hutchinson's Cordarrelle Patterson in Coffeyville's regular season finale against the Blue Dragons on Oct. 29 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Spaight was a first team selection on this year's NJCAA All-American Team. Patterson, coincidentally, was also a first team All-American selection.
Coffeyville Community College freshman linebacker Martrell Spaight was a first team selection to the 2011 NJCAA All-American team. Spaight, a true freshman from North Little Rock High School (Ark.) recorded 101 tackles this past season. Spaight also had nine tackles for loss for 22 yards, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. Spaight was also named first team All-Jayhawk Conference this past season.
Sophomore left tackle Mark Beard was named honorable mention on the All-American team. Beard,an Adamsville, Ala. native, was a first team All-Jayhawk Conference selection in 2011. Beard was also named Team MVP following the season.
The Ravens finished in third place in the Jayhawk Conference this past season. The Ravens were 5-2 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
