Art students win awards at exhibit

Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Art students photographed, drew, painted and sculpted their way to winning the Southeast Kansas Community College Student Art Exhibit.  The CCC Art Department took six of the 19 awards given and had more ribbons that any of the other competing schools. 

“I was very proud of our students,” said CCC Art Director, Michael DeRosa.  “We did very well as a school.  The show had a preliminary judging for it and we had more accepted entries by far into the show.” 

Robin Barone of Coffeyville, Kan. won first place in the photography division.  Darcy Hurlbutt of Coffeyville, Kan. took third in the photography division.  CCC cleaned up in the ceramics contest with Shiana Freeman of Coffeyville, Kan. winning first, Shay Lee Volz of Elk City, Kan. taking second and Erin Titus of South Coffeyville, Okla. winning third.  Raeanne Martin of Caney, Kan. won third place in the sculpture contest.  CCC Students with accepted entries in the show included: Julia Cellar of Coffeyville, Kan.; Larry Martin of Caney, Kan.: Alyssia Fine of Coffeyville, Kan.; Jonathan Jesse of Elk City, Kan., Dustin Morby of Parsons, Kan.: Ashley Dfuokwu of Coffeyville, Kan.; Mary Kirk of Coffeyville, Kan.; Stephanie Killins of Burlington, Onterio, Canada; Michah Wise of Vinita, Okla.; Tiffany Crum of Harrah, Okla., Sherri Sykes of Coffeyville, Kan., Megan Akers of Wichita, Kan., Zachary Newman of Coffeyville, Kan., Isaiah Sack of Independence, Kan., Amanda Gray of Prairie Village, Kan., Ursula Key of Coffeyville, Kan.; Amanda Moseley of Caney, Kan., Kimerly Dodson of Coffeyville, Kan., Cari Shaw of Caney, Kan., Sarah Hunter of Sharon, Kan., Taryn Lawrence of Coffeyville, Kan. and Courtney Sims of Caney, Kan.
