Collision Repair Paints the CCC Columbus Campus with a New Paint BoothCoffeyville Community College’s (CCC) Columbus campus offered a new Collision Repair Program this fall complete with a Garmat Downdraft Spray Booth donated by North Little Rock Nissan.
CCC spent the summer converting one of its
buildings to meet the needs of the new program. The major project
included the search for collision repair equipment. Mike Singleton with
Lum’s Sales and Service in Oklahoma introduced CCC personnel to the
North Little Rock Nissan in Little Rock Ark. The company donated the
Garmat Downdraft Spray Booth to the college. To make room for the booth,
major building modifications included removing internal walls and
digging a 6’ by 16 ft pit. A Little Rock crew arrived the first week of
classes to install the booth providing a unique learning experience for
the collision students. |

The Collision Repair Technology Program at CCC-Columbus is designed to prepare a student for entry-level employment as a Collision Repair Technician. Using I-Car curriculum, students will learn how to repair and refinish damaged vehicles using the most current technological methods and equipment. The employment outlook for automotive body repairers is expected to grow through the year 2014. Opportunities will be best for persons with formal training in automotive body repair and refinishing. The College would like to thank many people for helping in the development of this project. Columbus USD 493 for their patience and support in allowing building modifications and their partnership in providing technical education to Southeast Kansas. North Little Rock Nissan for providing the students with industry standard equipment. CCC is grateful for Leo Michel Concrete from Duken, Okla. and their crew who dug the pit for the paint booth and Hometown Electric for the days put in at the Columbus Campus making major electrical upgrades to the building and getting the paint booth to fire and work correctly. CCC thanks Kevin Hunt, Jeff Phillips, and Hal Daniels, CCC instructors, for giving up their summer to modify the building and make this project possible.
