Emergency
Services Program given go-ahead to offer online recertification courses
The Kansas Board of Emergency
Medical Services in Topeka Kansas unanimously awarded Coffeyville
Community College Emergency Services Education Department a variance to
allow Coffeyville to be the first college, university or technical
school in the state of Kansas to provide online continuing education for
recertification.
The online study will allow participants to recertify their First
Responder, EMT, EMT-I and Paramedic certifications without attending a
formal gathering. This will be instrumental in assisting individuals who
are serving in Iraq or working full-time in maintaining their
certification as well as allowing them to participate in discussion
panels regarding the most current trends in medicine, care and treatment
of the sick and injured.
"This is a huge breakthrough for EMS in general as online continuing
education has never before been recognized in Kansas," said Greta
Rexwinkle, Director of Emergency Services Education at CCC. "This will
allow CCC to potentially expand their department to any location that
would have online access and not limit their program to the campus or
outreach programs."
The Coffeyville Community College Emergency Services Program will be
taking names until February 25th for certified individuals to
participate in the beta test for this program. If you are interested or
know someone that might be, please contact Rexwinkle at 620-251-7700 ext
