J.D. Cook a sophomore from Lenapah, Okla. has been named the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Student of the Month.  Cook was nominated by faculty and staff who said he was “reliable, helpful and always willing to do what needed to be done.”

Cook is attending CCC on a Native American Leadership Association scholarship.  He has been a volunteer ambassador for the past year and will ride for the Red Raven Rodeo team next year.  He is a calf and team roper.

“He is a worker and one of the best tour guides we have as an ambassador,” said one CCC faculty member.

In his spare time, Cook helps out on his family’s cow/calf operation, rides colts for horse owners and competes in roping jackpots, rodeos and horse shows.

Cook will return next year to finish his Associate of Science degree with a focus on agriculture education.  He hopes to then finish a Bachelor’s Degree in equine management at West Texas A&M.  He hopes to one day work as a rodeo coach and a horse trainer.
