Kansas Board of Regents recognize CCC as outstanding in Kansas

This summer, the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) recognized Coffeyville Community College (CCC) and the work of Vice President for Learning, Marlon Thornburg, and his team on the performance agreements for the College.  KBOR sets up agreements with colleges and universities as a way to determine the allocation of new dollars for education.  To be eligible for any new dollars, performance agreements must be completed, meet the criteria and show directional improvement.

These performance agreements work toward initiatives set by the state.  Post-secondary institutions are asked to address three of the four goals.  All institutions must improve learner outcomes.  CCC completed an additional performance agreement answering the initiative of efficiency, effectiveness and seamlessness.  The College works toward improving the efficiency of higher education in Kansas, the effectiveness between colleges and the seamless transfer.  CCC is also working on the initiative to improve workforce development as well as the one to increase targeted participation/access.  This initiative focuses on institutions working to increase minority enrollment, limit barriers for low income, physically disabled and special populations.  CCC specifically works on increasing technical scholarship allocations.

Regents Shank and Downey made a point of specifically noting a few performance agreements that had been particularly good or caught their attention.  CCC was one of the five institutions recognized, out of the 32 schools who submit performance agreements including universities, community colleges and technical colleges.

“CCC’s performance agreements were very good – the first one out of 14 who had done it correctly,” said Kathrin Mueller.
