CCC graduate wins “Rising Star Award” 

Eyewitness News Everywhere Assistant New Director Bridget Lovelle has received the coveted 2007 “Rising Star Award”.  The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission awarded the crystal pillar to Lovelle.  She was presented with the award during the 21st. Annual Mid-South Regional Emmy Awards banquet at the end of January.  This is only the 3rd Rising Star Award given to an individual. 

The Rising Star Award honors an industry professional in the Mid-South Region who shows extraordinary promise.  The nominees are chosen by the Board of Governors of the Academy from entrants whose work exhibits creativity, vision and high ethical standards and whose efforts hold promise for the industry’s future. 

Lovelle, originally from Caney, Kan., studied broadcasting at Coffeyville Community College before earning a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University.  She is the daughter of Faye Lovelle of Caney and the late Tom Lovelle.  Lovelle has been with Eyewitness News Everywhere since 2002.  She has won numerous other awards including three regional Edward R. Murrow awards, a Kansas City Press Club award and several awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.  She was part of the team at KAKE-TV in Wichita that won the national Edward R. Murrow award for Overall Excellence.  Lovelle received an Emmy nomination in 2006 for her special event coverage.  She worked for six years at KAKE-TV in Wichita and was executive producer in WAVY-TV in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va.
