Jeff Phillips named Employee of the
Month
Jeff
Phillips has spent the past four years building the
automotive program at the Coffeyville Community College
(CCC) Columbus Technical Campus. In just the past year,
his program has been NATEF certified, he has signed an
articulation agreement with the Universal Technical
Institute and had outstanding placement of students into
industry or transferred students to other universities.
Phillips also had a Dodge Dakota donated to his program
from Pittsburg State University to use as a trainer
vehicle. In April of 2007, Phillip’s team competed in
the state Skills USA automotive competition earning
third place in the hands-on troubleshooting contest,
first place in parts management, second in the high
school automotive written exam and second in the
post-secondary written exam. His class is also working
on the reconstruction of a hot rod.
“My favorite
part about working at CCC is watching the students grow
into technicians and being able to work with such a
great group of individuals,” said Phillips.
In his spare
time, Phillips enjoys working on cars, hunting, fishing,
camping and playing with his kids. Phillips and his
wife, Samantha, have a six-year-old daughter, Jayden and
a 22-month-old son, Ryder. It is his family that
Phillips is most proud.
“I’m most
proud of the values that have been passed down from
generation to generation and those that are still being
passed down to my kids,” he said.
