Steen named Phi Theta Kappa Student of the Month for September
Michael Steen of Coffeyville, Kan. was named the Phi Theta Kappa
(PTK) Honor Society student of the month.
Steen has completed a Certificate in Networking from the CCC
Technical Campus in Coffeyville. He will be a student on the main
campus until December of 2008 completing his Associate of Science
degree in Computer Science. Steen plans to continue his education
at Cornell or Columbia.
“I want to be rich and famous . . . or a network administrator
for a major corporation,” said Steen.
Steen currently serves as the Co-Vice President of fellowship for
the local CCC PTK Chapter. He is also the Vice President for the
Southern PTK District of Kansas and he is running for International
PTK President, a position he will find out the results of in the
spring of 2008.
Steen spent the summer helping PTK plan for the Kansas Region.
In August, he traveled to Ames, Iowa where he participated in the
Iowa Straw Poll by helping with the campaign of Senator Sam
Brownback. Steen presented the PowerPoint introduction at the mock
chapter meeting presented at Neosho County Community College for the
Southern District Chapter officer training. Steen is also
presenting on Goal Setting at the Kansas Region Leadership
Conference at Labette Community College at the end of September.
In addition to PTK, Steen is involved with the Red Raven Student
Ambassador program and works at KKI Technology in Coffeyville doing
PC repair.
