Red Raven Holiday draws a large crowd

Coffeyville Community College (CCC) hosted its second annual Red Raven Holiday on Friday, Nov. 16 with over 400 visitors walking through the winter wonderland of campus.  Over 20 campus and community groups contributed to the kick-off of the holiday season.

With thousands of lights and a dozen great holiday activities, this event is fast becoming a community favorite especially for those young at heart.

A hayrack ride brought visitors through snow globes to the entrance of the Holiday.  A large live reindeer posed near a sleigh with visitors while everyone had a chance to pet two baby reindeer.

The emergency medicine department lit up two vehicles and gave away food.  The Coffeyville Technical Campus brought over a small wooden church for children to explore along with their own set of lights.

The living nativity scene returned with the help of the agriculture department.  Those students also built a house for Santa where hundreds had their photos taken with the jolly red fellow.

Gingerbread became a theme for a number of areas as the student government group put together a house, the bookstore had a life-size gingerbread house and men and Chartwells food service created a huge real gingerbread house.  Chartwells was also the area to wait for a chance to decorate your own gingerbread cookie.

The Native American club had a life-size teepee and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows.  The cheer team walked around in packages while Staff Management handed out goodies.

The student services department lit up their end of campus while offering free hot chocolate.  Visitors could purchase holiday t-shirts from the Business Professionals of America.

A creative snow-globe complete with a Red Raven Softball player made up the center of main campus along with a huge Christmas tree donated by the horticulture students.

The softball team offered free popcorn and face painting as well.  The baseball team added to their growing holiday carnival.  The Relay for Life team offered Chicken and Noodles and many visitors took advantage of the horse-drawn carriage rides.

The choral and instrumental music concert sold out with music fans packing the theatre.  The theatre students went caroling around the entire event.

This event will continue to grow in the future and is fast becoming a favorite community event of many.
