Jarell Routt named Student of the Month

“It isn’t very often you meet a young man of his character, commitment and sincerity,” said one faculty member of Jarell Routt.  “He is very goal oriented and I have no doubt he will finish what he has started.”

Routt was named the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Student of the Month.  A native of Texas City, Tex.; Routt came to Coffeyville to play football and further his education.  He was red-shirted his first semester attempting to play for the Red Ravens, but stayed through his graduation this December and finished his degree with a 3.3 grade point average.

“Jarell is extremely respectful and has done a variety of tasks we have asked of him,” said another CCC staff member.

On campus, Routt worked in student services, gave tours and helped with recruiting as a student ambassador, studied hard and enjoyed hanging out with friends.

Education has been a part of his entire life.  Routt’s godmother has been teaching Kindergarten for nearly 25 years.  He has seven brothers and sisters.  In his spare time he enjoys duck hunting with his dog, Gage, and fishing.

“I’m young and adventurous,” he said.

Routt will continue his education at Texas Tech University in the spring.  He plans to play football and earn his bachelor’s degree in business and finance.

“When I’m done with school, I want to get a six figure job, move to San Diego (because it is nice), start a family and give back,” said Routt.
