CCC instructor presented with Silver Beaver Boy Scout Council AwardCoffeyville Community College (CCC) Automotive Technology faculty member, Roy Shafer was honored by the Boy Scout Council this spring as they presented him with the Silver Beaver Award. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor a local Boy Scout Council can bestow upon a Scout leader and was established by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America in 1930. It is presented for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth. A council is permitted to recognize one leader for 60 chartered scout units. Shafer has been involved in scouting for over 20 years. He is currently the Scoutmaster for Troop 3 in Caney, Kan. Shafer is also the activities chairman for the Osage Nation, Program director for the QSR fun with son, member of the Quivira Council 2008 Encampment Committee, Coffeyville Chapter SKILLS sponsor, member of the automotive service association, MoKan, Member of the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) and active in the Wayside Christian Church. Shafer received the Silver Beaver award at the Quivira Council Annual Leadership Recognition dinner in Wichita this spring. |
