CCC Columbus Skills USA students win at state competition 

Students from Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Columbus Technical Campus made their mark at this year’s Kansas Leadership and Skills Conference in Wichita, Kan. on April 16-18.  Travis Tyrell of Pittsburg, Kan. took first in parts management; Blake Wooten of Galena, Kan. took first in automotive written and third in parts management; Bill Elmore of Columbus, Kan. took fifth in automotive troubleshooting; Blake Parsons of Columbus, Kan. took third in construction and Jared Arbuckle took fifth in construction. 

The CCC Columbus Campus also received the 2008 Bronze Kan Do Award in recognition of outstanding fundraising efforts and community involvement.  

"As the SkillsUSA advisor and Automotive Instructor, I would like to congratulate all of the contestants of this year’s state competition in Wichita. All of the contestants represented the school in outstanding fashion and performed extremely well,” said Jeff Phillips. "We had outstanding placement and are very proud of our future industrial employees."
