Football team volunteers for several college and community projectsBest known for their blocks, long passes and touchdowns, the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Red Raven Football team has been called on to help with a variety of volunteer projects from moving campus offices to gently placing hundreds of special luminaries. Over the past year the Ravens have moved the admissions/advising center and the CCC bookstore, moved the entire student services department, helped the Chamber of Commerce unload bags for the Bike Across America bikers, put on a football clinic for the Boys and Girls Club, read books to Community Elementary students as part of the Reading is Fundamental program, assisted with the set up of the annual CCC auction, assisted the CCC maintenance department in pulling up the gym floor for graduation and the auction, cleaning, weeding and hauling trash. The teammates put on a Coffeyville Recreation Football Camp, some were donors at Red Cross Blood Drives and they worked with the Special Olympics. The team filled volunteer spots at the National Junior College Outdoor Track Meet, worked at the dump sites for Coffeyville and helped with city clean up, assisted the Brown Mansion with a fundraising party and helped clean up and move the Coffeyville Salvation Army. This summer over 50 Red Raven football players set up the hundreds of luminaries for the Coffeyville Relay for Life. In addition to new plays, strength training and team building, Red Raven coaches emphasize volunteering and community service with their players. The goal is to not only produce a winning season but players that value their community and enjoy giving back. |
