CCC to offer Turf Management in Fall 2008Coffeyville Community College (CCC) will offer a Turf Management program in the Fall of 2008. This is the ideal program for those who enjoy hands-on learning in classes that are diverse and often held outdoors. Students interested in staying close to athletics will enjoy studies in Turf Management and the opportunity to provide the ideal playing field for a variety of sports. In addition to general coursework necessary to graduate with the Associate of Science degree and transfer to a four-year university, students in the Turf Management program will take courses in soils, landscape design, horticulture science, landscape development and complete a turf management internship. Students will finish their internship hours on the Red Raven practice football fields, local golf courses or the CCC campus. Students develop leadership skills by organizing and executing landscaping or renovation projects. CCC has one of the largest greenhouses of any two-year horticulture program in the state of Kansas giving students a wide range of year-round horticulture experience. Graduates of Turf Management programs will work on golf courses, baseball, football and soccer fields, complete landscaping for businesses and communities and much more. For more information about this new option and the scholarships available to students, contact Derek Dick at 620-251-7700 ext. 2087. |
