Coffeyville Community College's theatre department will present an adaptation of a fifth century B.C. Greek play starting Thursday and running through Saturday night. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the main campus of CCC. Admission is free.

Jean Anouilh's Antigone is a tragedy inspired by Greek mythology and Sophocles' play of the same name. Anouilh's play was first performed in Paris in 1944 during the Nazi occupation of France. Produced under Nazi censorship, the play was intended to be ambiguous toward the rejection of authority represented by Antigone and the acceptance of it represented by Creon. The parallels to the French resistance and the Nazi occupation are clear. The version performed by CCC of Anouilh's play was adapted by Lewis Galantiere and is directed by CCC Theatre Director Caitie Almond.

The cast for CCC's production include Rebecca Bell as The Chorus, Brandi Thomas as Antigone, Alexx Parsons as the Nurse, Tyler Dougan as Ismene, Ryan Garrett as Haemon, Mondriel Andrews as Creon, Chris Tice as First Guard, Ahrend Salas as Second Guard, Cory Conway as Third Guard, Christopher Ramsey as the Messenger, George Celestine as the Page, and Mackenzie Bauer as Eurydice.

Amanda Looney is the Stage Manager, Elia Saucedo is the Lighting Technician, Isaiah Colbert is the Sound Technician, and Kelsi Gibson helped paint the set.
