The Brown Mansion is supported by a full basement whose walls are twenty inches thick. 

The basement hall contains a dirt bin, a water purifier, and the original water heater. The Mansion's elevator opens onto the basement, the first and second floors, and the ballroom.  Near the elevator in the basement is the original fuse box , a clothes chute, and telephone connections.

Delivery door which open directly to an outside stair where used so supplies could be brought directly into the basement.
