Who are the Twister Boosters?

Twister Boosters is the name of Community Elementary’s parent involvement group. The purpose the CE Twister Boosters, as stated in our bylaws, is:

  • to enhance our student’s educational experience and learning environment. Through fundraising and family activities we will promote positive involvement between parents, teachers, school administration, and the community. It is also our goal to provide a sense of support, pride and enthusiasm.

When are the meetings?

Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 5:30PM.  Most meetings are held in the school library, unless otherwise noted.  General meetings usually last one hour and include budget reports, discussion of upcoming events, and committee reports. You don’t have to be a member to attend a meeting or help with an event. However, membership does give you voting rights on events, policies, and budget. People who serve on special committees may meet at other times as needed.

What do the Boosters Do for our school?

The Boosters coordinate and fund several events for our kids, such as:

  • Reading is Fundamental
  • Teacher Appreciation
  • Main Bulletin Board
  • Spelling Bee
  • Lighted Sign
  • Yearbook Design
  • Book Fair
  • 6 th Grade Celebration

How is the money spent?

  • Yearbooks – Our goal is to purchase a yearbook for every student.
  • Field Trips – Teachers are notified of the amount available from the Boosters. Field trip destinations are determined by the teachers & principals, then, reimbursement is made to the school.
  • RIF ( Reading is Fundamental) – Three times a year, we arrange for each student to pick out a book to keep. We also arrange for people to read to or entertain the students that day.
  • Teacher Appreciation – In May, we purchase lunch, snacks, or small gifts for the teachers and staff.
  • Fun Day – We pay for the event as planned by school staff.
  • Enhancements to School – We try to respond when the teachers or staff are in need of something that the district can’t fund.
