Delice Downing enters her 12th season at the helm of the Red Raven volleyball program in 2016. In 11 years, she has a career record of 265-163 (.619) and is the all-time winningest coach in school history.

Last season, Downing led the Ravens to a 33-10 overall record including a 7-2 mark and a third place finish in the Jayhawk Conference. Last season marked the seventh straight season in which the Ravens have won at least 20 matches. The Ravens have won at least 19 matches each season with Downing as head coach.

Downing coached a second team NJCAA All-American in 2015 (Frances Taylor) and two first team All-Jayhawk Conference selections (Taylor and Carolina Machado) and one second team All-Jayhawk Conference selection (Taylor Clay).

In 2014, Downing led the Ravens to a 25-12 overall record.  Four Ravens were named to the 2014 All-Jayhawk Conference Team including first team selection Polette Medina.

In 2013, Downing led the Ravens to a 21-13 overall record.  In 2012, Downing led the Ravens to a 29-11 record including a second place finish in both Region VI and Jayhawk Conference standings. The Ravens came within one win of advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament in 2012.

In 2011, the Ravens finished 20-18 with three players being named to the All-Conference team including first teamer Pamela Lima who was third nationally in kills. The 20 wins were the third straight season of 20 or more wins for the program.

Coach Downing’s 2010 team finished 24-19 and came within one match of qualifying for nationals. The team finished as the District N runner-up in 2010. 

Downing’s 2009 team finished the year with a 24-13 overall record. Her 2007 team set a school record for wins in a season, finished the year with a 33-13 overall mark. Downing led the Red Raven volleyball program to two consecutive 20-plus win seasons in her first two years as Head Coach.

Downing played volleyball, softball and basketball at CCC from 1998 to 2000. In volleyball, she was KJCCC Freshman in the Year in 1998-99 and was conference MVP in 1999-2000. She was also first team all-conference in both her freshman and sophomore years. Downing was also named second team all-conference in softball in 1998-99. Downing graduated from CCC in May 2000.

After CCC, Downing transferred to the University of West Alabama on a volleyball scholarship and was a two-year starter on the volleyball team at the university. She received the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award in 2002. Downing was a student assistant volleyball coach at West Alabama and was also head coach of the JV volleyball team in 2002. She graduated in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree.

Delice has a daughter, Aahlice, and sons, Adrian, and Dash, who passed away in July 2015.
