The Coffeyville Community College Foundation has received donations to fund the Virginia Noble Teaching Scholarship.  Mrs. Noble was a longtime Coffeyville resident and a big fan of CCC Arts and Athletic programs.

Virginia Copeland was born in rural Independence, Kansas and later married Frank Noble.  She graduated from Pittsburg State College and the University of Wyoming.  She was a second grade teacher at Garfield Elementary School from 1945 to 1988 when she retired.  Virginia was an avid enthusiast for the Coffeyville Community College athletic programs.  She also loved to attend the arts and humanities programs as well as Red Raven Holiday.

“Virginia was passionate about education and loved the college and all its activities.  We felt this scholarship was a good way to honor her memory,” said George Copeland, Virginia’s brother.

Friends and relatives dedicated donations in her memory to future education of teachers through their gifts to the Coffeyville Community College Foundation.   By endowing a scholarship in her memory, the principle of the gift will remain with the foundation forever while the interest earned from that gift will be given as an annual scholarship to a deserving student pursuing teaching as their field of study.
