Donations for Troops in Afghanistan to be Accepted at Sept. 10 Home Football Game

Coffeyville Community College Native American Leadership (NAL) Students will once again take up their efforts of supporting troops deployed to Afghanistan.  Students will collect supplies needed by soldiers during deployment to show our support of their service to our country.

Last year CCC NAL students began Operation Freedom Support in response to native Nick Wisely’s call to action for supplies for his unit in Afghanistan.  With the help of Nick’s mom, Jennifer Woodward, NAL students asked the community of Coffeyville to bring items to the first home football game to send to Wisely’s Unit.  The community of Coffeyville responded.

At the time of Wisely’s homecoming in June, over 200 boxes of supplies had been sent to soldiers he served with.  Due to the overwhelming success of this project, the students will begin the process again for native Coffeyville resident, Josh McIntosh.

Staff Sergeant Josh McIntosh is a member of the 25th Infantry Division: A Troop 3-4 Calvary Apache Company based out of Schofield Army Base in Wahiawa, Hawaii.  He has been serving in the U.S. Military for 12 years.  His wife and children remain in Hawaii awaiting his return.  He is married to Nicole (Dunaham) McIntosh and they have three boys ages nine, three, and ten months.  Josh’s parents are Tim and Kim McIntosh of Dearing, Kan.

NAL will be collecting items at the first home CCC Football game of the season.  The first home game will be held on September 10 vs. Garden City at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
