CCC Hosts Broadcasting Alumni Reunion

During Coffeyville Community College Homecoming, the Broadcasting department hosted an alumni reunion to celebrate 25 years of broadcasting at CCC.  Alumni from across the Midwest gathered to talk about their time at CCC and the broadcasting industry as a whole.  Current students were invited to attend as well and learn more about how past graduates have put their skills to work.

“It is a great opportunity for alumni to share positive experiences and life lessons with students who are following them in their field,” said Broadcasting Instructor Billy Durham.

Durham started the CCC broadcasting program 25 years ago.  He stays in touch with many of his former students through Facebook and other means.  Alumni from TV and Radio visit with Durham about the industry and the future of the Broadcasting industry.

Broadcasting has changed greatly over the last 25 years. “We have moved from an analog to a digital system, from tape editing to computer editing," said Durham. "Now we are moving to live streaming video. Technology is changing constantly,” said Durham.

The CCC Foundation has established a fund to support the broadcasting department as they strive to keep up with technology. If you are interested in supporting CCC’s broadcast department, please contact Billy Durham at 251-7700, ext. 2108 or Sally Presson at 252-7070.
