Red Raven Track Team Dedicates Nationals to Chase Dennis

The Coffeyville Community College men’s and women’s track team are currently ranked sixth and tenth respectively as they head into the NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in El Dorado, Kansas. Individually, several members of the Red Raven team are ranked in the top ten of their respective events.

Missing from this weekend’s competition will be sophomore Chase Dennis. Chase passed away unexpectedly on May 12 in a swimming incident.  At the time of his passing, Chase was ranked #3 nationally in the discus and #4 in the hammer. Chase had earned several Coaches Association All-American awards in his two seasons at CCC, and was a favorite to earn NJCAA All-American honors this weekend.

To honor their teammate, the Red Ravens will be dedicating their performances in memory of Chase.  The team is encouraging all Red Raven alumni, faculty, staff, fans, and supporters to share in this initiative.  Saturday, May 19, will be #RavensRememberChase. Fellow Red Ravens are encouraged to post a selfie in your favorite Raven gear on social media using the #RavensRememberChase and #RavensTakeFlight hashtags.
