CCC students recently decorated and delivered pumpkins to area nursing homes.

Coffeyville Community College received a donation of seasonal pumpkins from Jim Barnhart and Becky Barnhart, a current member of the Board of Trustees.

The CCC Art Department decorated the pumpkins and then delivered them to various offices on campus. The Eta Gamma Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa program on campus then delivered the remaining pumpkins to area nursing homes.

“Any time we, as a program, can provide a smile to the faces of people in our community, it is a great thing,” said Tamika Harrel, Honors Program Director and PTK Advisor. “The students involved in PTK are always so willing to go the extra mile to provide a service to someone else.”

Pumpkins were delivered to Medicalodges, Asbury Village, and both Windsor Place locations.

“They were excited to have us stop by and leave them with the pumpkins,” said Harrel. “Some of our students were able to interact with the residents, which is always a great thing.  It helps today’s generation of students bridge the gap, and create a relationship with a community member.”
