Coffeyville, KS – Coffeyville Community College is delighted to welcome storyteller Priscilla Howe, who brings
to life a full repertoire of funny, off-beat personal stories about growing up as the youngest child of an Episcopal
priest. Some of her tales (mostly) happened—others might have. As Priscilla herself says, “All my stories start
with a seed of truth!”
A professional storyteller since 1993 and a former librarian, Howe combines humor, warmth, and adaptability to
engage audiences of all ages. Children are treated to participatory stories and lively puppets, while adults
enjoy sophisticated, witty performances. Her storytelling journey has taken her across the globe—fifteen
countries and counting—with a bag of puppets and a head full of stories.
In 2015, Howe spent five months in Bulgaria on a Fulbright scholarship collecting folktales, which inspired her
book Clever, Kind, Tricky, and Sly: A Bulgarian Folktale Sampler. She currently resides in Lawrence, Kansas,
with her ginger cat, Pippin, and continues her quest to find the world’s best restaurant pie (fruit, not cream).
This free community event will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Spencer/Rounds
Theatre.
