Coffeyville, KS — Coffeyville Community College’s Quiz Bowl team delivered an impressive comeback performance at the State Tournament held Friday, April 17, in Salina, finishing 4th overall after a challenging start.

Team members Jaci Wood, Cai Beaubien, Conner Rexwinkle, Isaiah Jennings, and Trinity Lippert represented CCC in Friday’s opening rounds. The team secured an early win against Independence but faced tough competition in subsequent matches against Garden City and eventual tournament champion Cowley.

On Saturday, the team gained momentum with the addition of captain Morgan Lasco. With renewed energy, CCC surged through the remainder of the competition, winning every round of the day. One of the most intense matchups came against Seward County, where the teams were separated by just a single question.

The strong finish earned Coffeyville a 4th place team plaque, highlighting the group’s resilience and determination. Individually, Jaci Wood stood out by earning a 5th-place medal for the highest number of tossups answered during the tournament.

The team’s performance reflects the dedication and teamwork that continue to define CCC’s academic competition programs.
