Coffeyville, KS — Coffeyville Community College was proudly represented on the national stage during the annual conference hosted by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) in Austin, Texas, over Memorial Day weekend.
Several members of the CCC community were recognized for their contributions and achievements, showcasing the College's commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and student success.
Among those representing CCC were Wayne Bass, who served as a conference presenter, and Krista Hanna, who served as both a presenter and conference chair. Their participation allowed them to share knowledge and best practices with community college professionals from across the nation while highlighting the innovative work taking place at Coffeyville Community College.
The conference also provided an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of CCC student Kethlen Cardoso, an international student from Brazil, who was named a winner of the 2026 Student Essay Contest hosted by NISOD. The annual contest recognizes exceptional writing from community and technical college students across the country and invites students to honor faculty or staff members who have made a meaningful impact on their educational journey.
Cardoso's award-winning essay recognized Karen Ririe, CCC's International Coordinator and World Language Instructor, for the support and guidance she has provided throughout Cardoso's educational experience. The essay was selected from submissions received nationwide.
As part of the recognition, Cardoso was invited to read her essay during NISOD's Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration, where she shared her story before a full room of educators and higher education professionals from across the country.
Cardoso's achievement highlights the lasting connections between CCC students and faculty, while the participation of Bass and Hanna demonstrates the expertise and leadership of CCC employees within the community college profession. The recognition also reflects the supportive environment CCC provides for students from around the world.
