COFFEYVILLE, KS — Coffeyville Community College’s Humanities Program will welcome internationally acclaimed songwriter and acoustic roots performer David G. Smith for a FREE community performance at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre.
Smith’s music blends folk, Americana, country, and blues, with lyric-driven songs and a versatile voice at the center of his performances. Over the course of his career, Smith has released 12 albums, including his latest project, HERO STREET, which is connected to a nine-part PBS film series.
A multiple award-winning songwriter, Smith has performed at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café and shared the stage with artists including Mary Gauthier, Keb’ Mo’ and Justin Townes Earle.
His music has earned multiple No. 1 albums and singles on the Roots Music Report charts, along with recognition through national radio and television appearances.
Smith’s performance will showcase his distinctive acoustic roots sound while offering audiences an opportunity to experience the storytelling and songwriting that have earned him recognition throughout the music community.
The performance is part of CCC’s ongoing Humanities Program, which brings artists and performers from a variety of disciplines to campus. All Humanities Program performances are FREE and open to the community.
