The Eta Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Coffeyville Community College was named one of the top twenty-five chapters internationally at the Society’s 92nd Annual Convention held April 8-10 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, Orlando, Florida. There are approximately 1,200 Phi Theta Kappa Chapters internationally. The theme for this year’s convention was Celebrating Honors In Action. The seventeen members representing the Coffeyville Chapter attended the Honors In Action Academy in the Southern Hemisphere Ballroom on Thursday, April 8. The all-day training was presented by the Disney Institute featuring Disney’s approach to leadership excellence. Chief facilitator for the leadership training institute was Jeff Soluri, MA, Disney Institute Content Specialist. The academy focused upon the vision, organization, engagement, commitment, and character of a leader. Serving as keynote speaker at the first general session was Dr. Rachel Maddow, MSNBC political analyst and host of the Rachel Maddow Show. Featured as second general session keynote speaker was Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN Senior medical correspondent for health and medicine, host of Sanjay Gupta MD and practicing neurosurgeon.
