CCC Musical: Oliver Hits the Stage, April 20-22

The Coffeyville Community College theatre and music departments will combine talents in performing the musical Oliver April 20-22. Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Spencer/Rounds Performing Arts Theatre on the main campus of CCC. Admission is free.

Oliver is an English musical with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. The musical is based upon the classic novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

Oliver is the story of a young runaway orphan who is taken in by a group of boys trained to be pickpockets. When Oliver’s intended mark takes pity on him and brings him home, the boys and their mentor plot to kidnap Oliver to prevent him from speaking with authorities about the daily actions of the group.  

The cast, comprised of CCC students, and community actors and singers, includes: Gentry Bachman (Oliver Twist), Luke Tomlinson (Fagin), Zachary Lawrence (Artful Dodger), Tylar Dougan (Nancy), Karl Wittenburg (Bill Sikes), David Beck (Mr. Bumble), Allison Colson (Widow Corney), Christopher Ramsey (Mr. Sowerberry), Alexx Parsons (Mrs. Sowerberry), Richard Pugh (Mr. Brownlow), Rebecca Bell (Bet), Madigan Phillips (Charlotte), Jacob Blackburn (Noah Claypole), Mackenzie Bauer (Mrs. Bedwin), Ryan Garrett (Dr. Grimwig), Ahrend Salas (Old Sally), Bella Almond (Bullseye) and Brandon Decker (Charley Bates).  Fagin's Crew will consist of Spencer Decker, Addie Mund, Thane McFall, Emma Thompson, and Anna Elliott.  

The children’s chorus includes Aubrey Roig, Lenae Ivie, Breanna Shaffer, Kate Manley, Katelin Shaffer, Peyton Pauzauskie, Addison Smith and Meara Varner.  

Mackenzie Bauer, Jacob Blackburn, Ashlynne Fontes, Cory Conway, Zora Green, Kenneth Dodson, Ajanea Gunby, Ryan Garrett, Marcus Kastler, Ainsley McKellips, Christopher Ramsey, Alexx Parsons, Ahrend Salas, and Madigan Phillips comprise the adult chorus.  

Directing the play is CCC Theatre Director Caitlin Almond. CCC Vocal Music Director Christopher Langsford is the Vocal Director. Choreographers are Kristy Hewitt and Janiece Brotton. The stage managers are Amanda Anschultz and Brandi Thomas, and Jerry Tims is the sound technician. 

Dr. Michael Christensen, CCC Band Director, will conduct the orchestra. The orchestra will be comprised of Brian Nagel, Kylee Jarman, Blake Hightower, Jack Gerler, Ryan Bellamy, Kristi Reedy, David Foraker, Simon Westhoff and Daulton Edwards.

The backstage crew consists of Mondriel Andrews, George Celestine, Isaiah Colbert and Chris Tice. The set and construction crew includes Ryan Garrett, Ahrend Salas, Tylar Dougan, Brandi Thomas, Amanda Anschutz, Alexx Parsons, Mackenzie Bauer, Cory Conway, Luke Tomlinson and Kierstyn Tomlinson. Assisting with the set construction was Clarence Ray and the CCC Technical Campus. Helping with make-up are Amanda Anschutz and Madigan Phillips.
