At the Graduation Recognition and Stoling Ceremony on Friday, May 12, Eta Gamma named the first recipient of the Linda McFate Service Award.

Linda McFate served as the chapter advisor for the Eta Gamma chapter in Coffeyville for over 20 years. This award was created to honor her legacy of service and commitment to the college and community.

The award was given to the student who showed the most outstanding contribution to the chapter and community this academic year. That student was Deziree Lee.

Deziree is a graduate of Field Kindley High School, and she will be attending Missouri Southern next year to continue her education in studying business. Deziree had 36 hours of service to the chapter this year, including conceptualizing and planning much of the "Night in Paradise" fundraiser for Turkey/Syria Earthquake Relief. As a member of the Coffeyville Honors Program, she also completed a service learning project with the Coffeyville Area Foundation.
