Eta Gamma Hosts Sister Chapter

The Eta Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Coffeyville Community College was host to their sister chapter, Beta Omega of Independence Community College, for an old fashioned wiener roast and hayrack ride.  The event was held Friday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Traxson farm east of Coffeyville.

Hosts for the evening were Greg and Julie Traxson.  To begin the evening, each student introduced themselves and shared their college major and future career goals.  Before roasting the wieners, members divided into sister chapter teams for a Halloween Quiz with such questions as, “What is the highest grossing horror movie of all time?” and “What are the three most haunted cities in America?”  Following the buffet meal members told ghost stories around the bonfire.

The weather was perfect for the hayrack ride which took participants to Angola and other rural areas.  Following the hayrack right everyone toasted marshmallows for S’mores.  Special guests at the October social were Brenda Sanchez, Beta Omega Adviser, Nurali Mamedov, Kansas Region President from Beta Omega, and Colter Comstock, Kansas Region Vice President from Eta Gamma.  Future plans for the sister chapters include a Christmas Party in early December.
