Looking to start a career in the truck driving industry? Through Coffeyville Community College, you can earn your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in as little as 8 weeks, and receive comprehensive hands-on, on-the-road-training.  Our program meets the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the new Entry Level Driving Training (ELDT) requirements. 

Our truck driver training is very affordable, with new classes starting at least once a month.  We can schedules CDL driving tests in KS, OK and MO.

Seven steps to obtain a Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) license, you must meet the following requirements:

1. Have a valid driver’s license
2. Pass the class A General knowledge Test (combination vehicle and air breaks)
3. Get a CLP (Commercial Learners Permit)
4. Get a D.O.T. Medical card for a CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle)
5. Get the T.A.T. certificate (Truckers against trafficking) https://education.truckersagainsttrafficking.org/
6. Pass a ELDT class A Theory
7. Pass a skills test in a Class A vehicle, which includes pre-trip inspection, basic vehicle control, and on-road driving tests. (At the State DMV)

Pre-Requisites

1. Be at least 18 years old to drive intrastate and at least 21 years old to drive interstate.  You must be 21 years old to obtain HazMat Endorsement.
2. Hold a valid driver's license.
3. Provide proof of citizenship or lawful presence in the United States.

It is important to note that you must also have a clean driving record and not have any disqualifying offenses such as DUI or leaving the scene of an accident. Additionally, you may need to obtain additional endorsements on your CDL license to operate certain types of vehicles or transport hazardous materials (HazMat).
