Humanities Project: Kit Holmes Performs Great American Songbook at CCC on Nov. 7th

Kit Holmes

Kit Holmes is an Austin, Texas, based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and award-winning songwriter who has been performing, composing, arranging and producing music professionally since the age of 13.

Holmes' smooth and powerful jazz-infused, adult-contemporary songs have been scoring awards since she entered her first songwriting contest in 2004. With rave reviews from "All About Jazz" and "Jazz Corner" magazines, Holmes' 2011 release "Return to Love" was a 54th Annual Grammy Award Entry for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Holmes' musical vocabulary is vast, eclectic and always full of surprises. At her live shows, listeners may hear a mash-up of Cannonball Adderley's "Mercy, Mercy" with the theme from "Sesame Street" while she's channeling Stevie Wonder. Her finely-crafted original tunes run the genre-gamut from smokey jazz ballads to masterfully-produced hip-hop riffs for spin classes at the gym. Throw in some guitar-driven Americana and folk, sensuous Latin grooves and some flat out fluffy-fun pop tunes and a picture develops: Holmes is a prolific writer and engaging performer.

Holmes will be performing on the Coffeyville Community College campus on Tuesday, November 7. The public is invited to the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday humanities performances at CCC.  The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Performing Arts Theatre.
