Coffeyville Community College’s Humanities Program will welcome London-born, award-winning songwriter Rupert Wates for a FREE community performance at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. Wates has been writing full-time since signing an exclusive publishing deal with Eaton Music in the late 1990s. Since relocating to the United States in 2006, he has released 11 acclaimed full-length albums and earned airplay across the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel and Australia. His songwriting has earned more than 50 awards, while more than 20 of his songs have been recorded by other artists. His work has also inspired two full tribute albums recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles. Performing an average of 120 shows each year across North America and Europe, Wates has built a reputation for captivating audiences with his haunting, melodic style. His performance at CCC will feature his distinctive blend of acoustic art-folk, jazz, vaudeville, and cabaret.
